Falling into Autumn
By Leah J Chutko
With summer’s ebb, mosey easily from hot to cool: cowboy boots in a funky colour like grass green or burnt red worn with embellished jeans. Wear your warm-weather favourites into the Fall like peep-toe pumps and a folk-art skirt. With October comes the time to cozy up. Wear your herringbone skirt suit with textured opaque tights and loafer pumps. Pull out that wool toggle coat but be sure to balance the coziness with a luxe python or croc bag in bold hues. With a slouchy knit v-neck, tie a skinny scarf in a single knot and wear a flat riding boot. A shrunken blazer with a cameo brooch will smarten up your favourite distressed jeans or make casual a little black dress. In November you’ll want to rediscover the more functional accessories: gloves, long and slouched and hats, faux fur or tweed. A wool military coat is demure but the brass detailing will add panache. A brocade coat with faux fur trim and period pieces reminiscent of Anna Karenina add romance. Punch any outfit with tons of colour: teal and purple, green and rust paired with chocolate, camel and black. You’ll find autumn as inviting as a warm fireplace.
